Common questions
What does Rock Solid Digital do?
We design, build and run digital platforms for hospitality — websites, booking engines, mobile apps, loyalty, integrations and AI — usually as one connected guest journey rather than separate projects.
Who do you typically work with?
Hotel groups, independent and boutique hotels, ski and mountain resorts, destinations and entertainment brands. Our longest client relationship is over ten years.
Do you only work in hospitality?
Mostly. Hospitality is where our experience, integrations and reusable platform pay off for clients. We take on adjacent work — entertainment, gifting, travel — when the problem looks similar.
How does a project usually start?
With a call about the actual problem, then a short written view on approach, scope and team. From there we usually begin with a discovery and design phase before committing to a full build.
Where is your team based?
Our team works across Hong Kong, Manila and Bali, and we work with clients all over the world.
About our work
Do you support platforms after launch?
Yes — most of our clients stay with us long-term. We operate, monitor and keep improving what we build, with ongoing UX, conversion and feature work.
How long does a typical project take?
A focused website or app release is often three to six months. Larger multi-brand platforms are delivered in phases, with the first release live well before everything is finished.
Can you work with our existing platform?
Often, yes. We can extend, integrate with or progressively replace what you have — we don’t insist on starting from scratch.
Can we speak to your clients?
Yes. Once we understand what you’re working on, we’re happy to introduce you to a relevant client.
About our expertise
Can you take on just one part, like a booking engine?
Yes. Clients often start with one product and grow from there — each piece is built to connect with the rest of the guest journey later.
Do you design as well as build?
Yes. Strategy, UX/UI design and engineering sit in one team, so what gets designed is what gets shipped.
What technology do you use?
Modern, well-supported stacks — headless CMS, React and React Native, cloud infrastructure — chosen to be fast, maintainable and easy for your team to run.
Do you work with in-house teams?
Regularly. We can lead delivery, work alongside your developers, or hand over cleanly with documentation.
Digital experience — FAQs
What kind of hospitality websites do you build?
Brand and property websites, multi-property and multi-brand platforms, headless experiences, mobile apps and destination platforms — built so content, offers and booking work as one experience.
Can one platform run several hotel brands?
Yes. We’ve operated a shared platform across 80+ hotels and multiple brands, while preserving each brand’s own design and guest experience.
Do you build mobile apps as well as websites?
Yes — React Native apps for a cinema group, a ski resort and a gifting product, connected to the same platform as the website.
Do you build websites and apps from the same platform?
Yes. A shared design system and content model means web and app stay consistent and new features ship to both faster.
Can each of our brands look different?
Yes. One component library flexes across brands, so each keeps its own look and voice without a separate rebuild.
How do you approach conversion?
We design around the booking journey — clear paths, fast pages and fewer steps — then measure and keep improving after launch.
Which CMS do you use?
We recommend a headless CMS that suits your team and content, so editors can update pages, offers and properties without developers.
Commerce & integrations — FAQs
Why build a bespoke booking engine instead of using an off-the-shelf one?
Off-the-shelf engines look like everyone else’s and end the brand experience at the moment that matters most. A bespoke engine carries your design system, offers, upsells and loyalty pricing through to payment — without per-booking fees eating margin.
Which hospitality systems have you integrated?
In production, Oracle OPERA Cloud (OHIP) and a range of other PMS, CRS, payment, identity, CRM and dining platforms — we’re happy to go through the full list in a one-on-one conversation.
What is agentic commerce?
AI agents — in ChatGPT, Gemini or your own assistant — that can search, quote and book, not just chat. We expose the booking engine through open protocols like UCP and MCP, so agents book on live rates with the hotel as merchant of record.
What does the booking flow cover?
Multi-property search, room and rate presentation, packages, add-ons, payment, confirmation and reservation management — one continuous flow.
How do you improve conversion?
We track every step of the booking funnel, then test clearer rate presentation, upsells and add-ons, and recovery for guests who drop out — release by release.
Can it handle loyalty and member rates?
Yes. Member sign-in, pricing and rewards can run across every brand and property on the same engine.
Can we change PMS without rebuilding our website?
Yes. A normalised API layer sits between your PMS and the guest experience, so a PMS can be swapped underneath without rebuilding what guests see.
We run different PMS platforms across properties. Is that a problem?
No — it’s common. We build one normalised layer over every system, so your website, app and booking engine talk to all of them the same way.
How do you keep the booking path reliable?
Caching, monitoring, alerting and failover across the booking path, with a weekly release cycle and staged QA before anything reaches a guest.
AI — FAQs
What does AI-ready mean for a hotel platform?
Structured access to hotels, destinations, rooms, amenities, offers, availability, rates and reservations — so AI interfaces can answer and book with real data.
Is this a chatbot?
No. It is AI connected to real hotel commerce — conversational discovery, natural-language availability search and AI-assisted booking on top of live hotel data.
Have you shipped AI for hotels?
Yes — a ChatGPT app for EVT that lets guests discover and compare hotels across the portfolio in conversation, using live availability and rates.
What does AI actually do for a hotel brand?
It helps guests find and book the right stay — through conversational search on your site and inside assistants like ChatGPT — and helps your team answer questions faster.
Is it based on real availability?
Yes. Our AI products connect to the same live inventory and rates as your booking engine, so answers are accurate, not guesses.
What is a ChatGPT app?
An app that lets people discover your hotels directly inside ChatGPT. We built one for EVT on live availability and rates. We build on open standards like MCP, so the same integration can serve other AI assistants too.
How do you keep it on-brand and safe?
Responses are grounded in your content and data, with guardrails on what it can say and do, and human review of how it performs.
Generative engine optimisation — FAQs
What is generative engine optimisation (GEO)?
Improving the signals AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode use to find, understand and recommend your hotel — and to send guests to your own site to book.
How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO earns a place in a list of links. GEO earns a mention in an answer. It leans harder on structured data, consistent facts and content that answers guests’ questions directly — and it’s measured by asking the assistants, not by rankings.
What’s in an AI visibility audit?
Whether AI assistants recommend your hotel, where they send guests to book, what they get wrong, which sites they cite, whether they can read your site and how your prices look on Google Hotels — with your top gaps to fix.
Do you fix what the audit finds?
Yes. Structured data, semantic HTML, technical fixes and content are all work we do, on any platform — not just ones we built.
Do you check every hotel in a group?
Yes. For portfolios we run the checks across every property and roll the results up by brand — get in touch.
Free AI visibility report — FAQs
Is the report really free?
Yes. No card, no trial and no obligation. We built it to show hotels what AI says about them — if you want help with the gaps, you can get in touch.
How long does it take?
About two minutes. The site checks show straight away and the AI answers fill in as they arrive. The full report, with a share link and PDF, also lands in your inbox.
Which AI assistants do you check?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Mode, plus what Google Hotels and Google Search show for your name.
We run several hotels. Can you check them all?
The free report covers one hotel at a time. For a group or portfolio we can run the checks across every property — get in touch.
What do you do with my details?
We use them to send your report and, if you ask, to follow up about it. We don’t sell or share them.
Industries — FAQs
What industries do you specialise in?
Hotel groups, independent and boutique hotels, ski and mountain resorts, destinations and experiences, and cinema and entertainment.
Our industry isn’t listed. Can you still help?
Probably. If your guests book, buy or check in online, the same platform thinking applies — tell us what you’re working on.
Do you reuse work across clients?
We reuse proven infrastructure — integrations, booking and design foundations — so you get speed and reliability, while the experience stays unique to your brand.
Hotel groups — FAQs
Can one platform support all our brands?
Yes. One shared platform can run booking and loyalty for every brand, with each keeping its own look — we’ve done it across 80+ hotels.
How quickly can we launch a new property or brand?
Much faster than a rebuild — new properties are configured on the shared platform, and new brands reuse the component library.
Can loyalty work across every brand?
Yes. Members sign in once and get their pricing and rewards wherever they stay in the group.
We’re mid-way through a PMS migration. Can you work with that?
Yes. Our integration layer lets properties move between systems without changing the guest experience.
Boutique hotels — FAQs
Is a custom site worth it for a single hotel?
If direct bookings matter, yes. A site that feels like your brand and books easily reduces OTA commission — which often pays for the build.
Can our small team manage the site?
Yes. Content, offers and rooms are editable in a simple CMS, and we stay on hand for anything bigger.
Will it work with our PMS and channel manager?
We connect to live availability and rates from your systems, so there’s nothing to update twice.
Ski & mountain resorts — FAQs
Can the site handle opening day and powder-day traffic?
Yes. We build and test for seasonal peaks — caching, scaling and fast pages — so the platform stays quick when everyone arrives at once.
Can we show live lifts, weather and snow cams?
Yes. Live resort data feeds both the website and the app, updating automatically through the day.
Can guests book accommodation, passes and lessons together?
Yes. We bring accommodation, lift passes, lessons and rental into one journey, even when they come from different systems.
Do you build resort apps?
Yes — we built Thredbo’s app with live conditions, lift updates, maps and ticket access.
Destinations — FAQs
How do you turn inspiration into bookings?
By linking content directly to inventory — every place, event and itinerary has a clear path to book stays, tickets or packages.
Can we sell packages from multiple suppliers?
Yes. We connect accommodation, experiences and ticketing behind one checkout.
How do we show up in AI assistants?
We make your content and inventory available to assistants like ChatGPT, so guests can discover and book you where they plan.
Cinema & entertainment — FAQs
Can the app cope with big release nights?
Yes. We design for spikes — caching sessions and seats, queuing gracefully and keeping checkout fast under load.
Do you integrate with cinema ticketing systems?
Yes. Sessions, seat maps and pricing come live from your ticketing system.
Can guests add food and drink to their booking?
Yes. Tickets, food and drink and upgrades sit in one checkout, which lifts spend per visit.
Do you support loyalty?
Yes. Members get their pricing and rewards across app and web.
